The WebTrust for Certification Authorities (CA) programme was created jointly by AICPA and CICA and is currently managed by Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada. It was established to increase consumer confidence in ecommerce transactions secured through public key infrastructure (PKI) technology.
With changing requirements from browsers and regulators, BDO Malaysia’s Technology Advisory team assesses CAs’ environments and controls against the established WebTrust principles and criteria, providing recommendations where appropriate.
A CA that meets the WebTrust principles and criteria is eligible to display the WebTrust seal on its website. The seal links to the WebTrust Audit Report and CA Management Assertion, providing reasonable assurance that the CA complies with the applicable WebTrust Principles and Criteria.
