Executive Summary

Hisham is currently an Executive Director in Governance Advisory with BDO in Malaysia, focusing on ESG, Internal Audit, Corporate Governance and Risk Management. In addition, he is a subject matter expert in Islamic Asset Management and Shariah.

Hisham has over 22 years of experience in Islamic Asset Management, Banking, Shariah, Fintech, Accountancy, Auditing, Treasury and Fund Management. His experience includes working with several asset management companies and Islamic banks in Malaysia and Singapore.

Hisham started his career in Internal Audit for a national oil and gas company, before moving to Treasury and the Financial Sector.

Prior to joining BDO, Hisham was a senior consultant with a Shariah Advisory firm licenced by the Securities Commission of Malaysia. Hisham was a Director of International & Institutional Sales and a Product Specialist at a leading joint venture Islamic fund management company where he headed the international and institutional sales department. He was also the Executive Director of a foreign Islamic fund management company where he was instrumental in growing its assets under management.

Before that, Hisham worked with a Malaysian subsidiary of a Saudi Arabian bank as Head of Structured Products and Head of Asset Management where he built their unit trust business from ground zero.

Hisham is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW) trained in United Kingdom and an associate member of Chartered Institute of Islamic Finance Professionals (CIIF).
