Global Risk Landscape Report 2025
Global Risk Landscape Report 2025
BDO is proud to unveil the 10th edition of our Global Risk Landscape report, “The Risk Rift: Why Playing Safe Means Losing Growth”.
This year’s edition features a foreword by Sanjay Sidhu, Executive Director of Advisory at BDO in Malaysia, who offers regional context on the shifting global risk environment.
Drawing insights from 500 risk executives across the world, the report highlights a critical concern: businesses are becoming increasingly risk-averse, focusing on compliance over opportunity. This shift may be unintentionally hindering growth, innovation, and long-term resilience.
“It has never been more critical for businesses to take a proactive approach to risk,” said Sanjay. “If they can make this adjustment, they are better placed to take advantage of the
many opportunities the current global risk landscape is creating.”
Key insights from the report include:
-
Only 28% of businesses now consider AI a somewhat significant risk — down from 52% in 2024
-
People and talent risk has climbed 10 places from last year, now joint second among top unprepared risks
-
A disconnect between CEOs and Chief Risk Officers, with CEOs expressing concern over excessive compliance costs
The report also examines evolving global challenges, including geopolitical instability, AI disruption, and supply chain fragility. Most importantly, it provides practical guidance on how organisations can adopt antifragile risk strategies — not only to withstand disruption but to emerge stronger from it.
