Judy Tang Pik Ching is an Executive Director, Advisory at BDO Malaysia. Judy’s expertise centres on supporting companies and stakeholders through critical turning points, encompassing debt restructuring and workout strategies, liquidation and receivership situations, as well as distressed asset realisation. She leverages an extensive market network to identify suitable buyers, optimise value, and execute transactions efficiently. Judy is also recognised for her practical, solutions-driven approach to navigate complex challenges, align stakeholder interests, and deliver commercially viable outcomes.
Throughout her career, Judy has led the business turnaround and eventual sale of an independent power utility within a high-tech park, including a billion-dollar debt restructuring, securing new financing, and repositioning the business for sale as a going concern. She has also managed the disposal of a biodiesel plant under receivership, overseeing multi-lender arrangements, conducting competitive tender processes, and executing complex litigation-linked transactions. In addition, she oversaw the solvent liquidation of a public company in the financial services industry, addressing technical tax matters and facilitating distributions to shareholders.
Prior to joining BDO, she was the Chief Financial Officer of the law firm, Jeff Leong, Poon & Wong and had spent two decades with a Big 4 audit firm, Ernst & Young PLT (EY).
She is a Member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), and holds the designation of Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA). She is also a Member of the Insolvency Practitioners’ Association of Malaysia (iPAM). She earned a BA (Hons) in Accounting and Financial Management from the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom.
Judy has contributed to key industry publications, co-authoring a chapter on insolvency practitioners in Law & Practice of Corporate Insolvency in Malaysia, and the chapter on judicial management in Restructuring & Insolvency: A Commentary.
