Overview
As a Senior Associate / Assistant Manager in the Sustainability Assurance team, you will support and lead key areas of sustainability assurance engagements for Malaysian listed companies, by managing fieldwork, supervising junior team members and ensuring high-quality delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead planning discussions to define scope, audit approach, time line and budget and identify key risks of material misstatements
- Evaluate the design & operating effectiveness of ESG governance
- Lead portions of sustainability assurance work, including reviewing Sustainability Statements for accuracy and consistency with National Sustainability Reporting Framework, Securities Commission’s requirements and relevant reporting frameworks
- Review and assess the accuracy, completeness and consistency of ESG disclosures and documentation prepared by clients
- Support and oversee GHG emissions verification, including reviewing methodologies, emission factors and supporting data in line with ISO 14064 and the GHG Protocol
- Review ESG KPIs related to environmental performance, safety, workforce and supply chain, and evaluate data integrity and internal processes
- Engage directly with clients to gather information, clarify issues, discuss findings and communicate key observations clearly and professionally
- Oversee the preparation and review of workpapers, ensure proper documentation of testing procedures and maintain high-quality assurance outputs
- Supervise and coach junior, review their work, provide feedback and support their technical development
Education and professional skills / knowledge
Experience & Education:
- A recognised degree in Accounting, Finance, Sustainability/Environmental Science, Economics or equivalent with at least a second-class upper grade
- Minimum 1 year of experience in assurance, sustainability reporting, ESG advisory or related fields
- Familiarity with ESG reporting standards and Bursa Malaysia’s Sustainability Reporting Guide
- Certifications related to sustainability frameworks, such as GRI Certified Sustainability Professional or ISO 14064 (GHG verification/assurance) are preferred
Other skills
- Actively pursuing or interested in pursuing professional certification, including MIA membership
- Highly organised and detail-oriented, with strong time management skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively to meet deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
