Overview
As an Associate in the Sustainability Assurance team, you will support the evaluation and validation of Sustainability Statements and ESG data reported by Malaysian listed companies. Beyond gaining familiarity with key sustainability reporting frameworks, you will learn how organisations identify material sustainability matters, establish relevant policies and procedures, and collect and report sustainability information. 

You will also assist in designing and performing assurance procedures over the disclosures and contribute to the preparation of an assurance opinion included in the client’s annual Sustainability Statement.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of governance structures related to sustainability reporting
  • Assist in reviewing Sustainability Statements for accuracy and consistency with National Sustainability Reporting Framework, Securities Commission’s requirements and relevant reporting frameworks 
  • Support assurance procedures on ESG data, including understanding how sustainability information is collected, processed and reported by clients
  • Assist in the verification of GHG emissions, including reviewing activity data, emission factors and supporting calculations in line with the GHG Protocol and ISO 14064
  • Perform checks on ESG KPIs, such as environmental performance, safety metrics and workforce indicators, to ensure information is supported, traceable and reliable
  • Assist in readiness assessments and basic gap analyses to identify opportunities for clients to improve their sustainability reporting processes
  • Prepare workpapers, document testing performed and ensure completeness of supporting evidence under supervision of senior team members
  • Communicate professionally with clients to request data, clarify information and understand their sustainability processes
  • Work collaboratively with the team, supporting seniors in delivering engagement tasks efficiently and on time



Education and professional skills / knowledge
Experience & Education:
 

  • A recognised degree in Accounting, Finance, Sustainability/Environmental Science, Economics or equivalent with at least a second-class upper grade



Other skills

  • Proactive and eager to learn new sustainability and regulatory developments
  • A strong team player with good interpersonal, communication, and writing skills
  • Detail-oriented, accurate, and able to perform well under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Good command of both spoken and written English
