| The BDO network has undergone quite some changes over the last few years. From being recognised as a top mid tier referral network, the Global Leadership Team as led by our CEO, Jeremy Newman, as well as our Policy Board members have transformed BDO to a network capable of competing with the larger global professional services networks. Changes implemented included brand consolidation and positioning, new approach to network and member firm developments and governance structure. The bar was raised on quality reviews and procedures along with the implementation of new audit methodology tools and IT based Audit Process Tool (APT). BDO's profile internationally was also proactively raised through active engagement with stakeholders including media and regulators in key financial markets, alike. BDO in Malaysia's development has also been very exciting. We have continued on in our stride to be a clear and credible alternative to the bigger players in the marketplace. We have done so by continuing to uphold our mission to be an 'Employer of Choice' and to remain cognisant and in tune with our clients' needs through our 'Client Proximity' proposition. Our way of doing business has not changed. Core values of professionalism, integrity and commitment remain. We remain relevant by building on our talent pool; strong promulgation of continual professional learning among our people; investments into infrastructure support be it in technology advancements or the redesign of our procedures and policies; always benchmarking against the best in class. This ensures that we continue to be able to offer the tailored innovative solutions that best fit the needs of our clients. Our regional and quality growth ambitions have also borne fruit. Our staff numbers have double up from 2007 led by a strong assemblage of partners and directors. We had the privilege to welcome on board partners and staff from two other group of accounting firms: one from Penang and the other from Cambodia. This is indeed a testimony to the strength and belief in the standing of the BDO network. From a macro view, regional economy continues to be encouraging for firms in South East Asia especially since we are located between the two emerging giants of India and China. We are in a privileged position by virtue of our geo-economic position and political stability. Our understanding of the culture and values of both the East and the West is also an added advantage. We therefore look forward to the privilege to align with the ambitions of our clients and be part of the value chain to provide high performance solutions that are apt to meet these exact needs and goals moving forward. |
