BDO announces appointment of new member firm in Slovak Republic

BDO, the world’s fifth largest accountancy network, is pleased to announce the admission of a new member firm in the Slovak Republic, effective 17 October 2011.

The successor firm now taking on BDO representation in the Slovak Republic is recognised in the market as The Edison Consulting Group, which was inaugurated in 2002 by the current Managing Partner, Peter Gunda, and Business Development Partner, Vladimír Michalík.

The new BDO firm will provide a full range of professional services, including audit, tax and bookkeeping, as well as consulting, and has its entire team based under one roof in Bratislava. The new BDO Slovak Republic is particularly strong in business consulting and advisory services – including corporate finance, regulatory matters, restructuring and M&A. Their client base includes leading companies in the energy, real estate, logistics, automotive and media sectors.

Peter Gunda, Managing partner, is looking forward to being part of an international network. “Many of our clients are the local subsidiaries of medium and large multinational groups so, as a member firm of BDO, we will be able to offer them effective support throughout the world. Our approach to clients is aligned with that of BDO, in that we place significant emphasis on maintaining good quality standards and seek always to deliver an exceptional service that is consistently better than that of our competitors. We are looking forward to collaborating with BDO firms across the region and further afield.”

Martin van Roekel, CEO of BDO International Limited as of 1 October, agrees that there is huge potential for BDO both in the Slovak Republic and in Central Europe as a whole. “Financial recovery of the market in the region is slow, but increasing steadily and we can expect the situation to improve still further. The new BDO firm in the Slovak Republic is an important element of BDO’s strategic growth plans in this specific region and we also anticipate the substantial growth of the firm itself. The current level of the network’s referred work to the country will bring benefits in terms of both client numbers and fee income and an increase in the new firm’s resources is planned accordingly in the immediate future”.
